How do you fix background noise in Adobe Premiere Pro?
Well, if you have the full Adobe package, you also have access to a program called Adobe Audition and that's what we're going to use for this method. It's actually super easy to do and you only have to do 2 simple things to the audio.
First of all, make sure you have Adobe Audition installed. If not, just go to CreativeCloud.Adobe.com and click "Apps" at the top. Scroll down to "Adobe Audition" and click "Download".
Once downloaded, go into Premiere Pro and simply right click on the audio in your timeline that you want to edit and then click "Edit Clip in Adobe Audition".
Adobe Audition will open up and from there, zoom in and find a part where no one is speaking. Click the "Time Selection Tool" and drag over an area you want to select. Click the "Space bar" to play, to make sure that there is no one speaking in this part of the audio. Click the "Loop Playback" icon to... well, loop the playback.
Now, all you have to do is to go up to Effects, Noise Reduction, Capture Noise Print. Click OK in the pop-up window and now you have a sound or noise registered that you want to remove from your audio.
Now, go to Effects again, Noise reduction, Noise reduction (process).
Click the play button at the bottom of the pop-up window to preview your changes and adjust the sliders until the noise you want to remove is gone. Then click "Select Entire file" and then "Apply".
Adobe Audition has now created a separate audio file for you with your changes, so to replace your previous audio, all you have to do is to click Cmd + S (Ctrl + S on PC) to save your file.
Now when you head back over to Premiere, the audio is now automatically relinked to your new audio file.
And that's all there is to it. After doing this a couple of times you will get better and better at understanding how this process works and what "Noise Print" to capture.
