"Such children are not born. You need to have an abortion" – these were the exact words Ksenia Kovalychuk heard during the ultrasound in 2019. Doctors discovered serious pathologies in their baby: abnormally short arms and legs, and pathology of the tubular bones. The medical professionals insisted on terminating the pregnancy, but Ksenia and her husband made a difficult decision – to give life to their child.
Thus, Maxim was born – an extraordinary baby with a rare diagnosis, Shapiro syndrome. The doctors could not provide any forecasts, but Maxim is growing and astonishing everyone around him! He is not only strong in spirit but also an incredibly cheerful, charming, and beautiful child who fills his parents’ lives with happiness every day. His infectious smile and boundless energy inspire everyone who knows him.
