On February 6, 2024, GlobalSkin and the European Society for Dermatological Research jointly hosted an online roundtable event titled "High-burden but Under-Researched: Policy Responses to Address Under-Prioritized Skin Diseases". The event aimed to respond to the European Union's 2023 Discussion Paper, "Scoping study on evidence to tackle high-burden under-researched medical conditions."

The roundtable convened experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from the dermatology and public health sectors. Notably, the event featured a Special Address by Stella Kyriakides, the European Commissioner for Health and Food Security. Several organizations, including the Dutch Skin Foundation, Institute for Health Services Research at the University Medical Center Hamburg, European Society for Dermatological Research, European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations, and Parliamentary Research Services of the European Parliament, delivered insightful presentations.

The discussions focused on shedding light on the challenges faced by individuals with under-prioritized skin diseases and crafting comprehensive policy responses to enhance their quality of life. Participants were encouraged to engage actively in this important dialogue to drive meaningful change in addressing under-researched skin conditions.
