There is only one singular Person of God who's name is Yahweh. By "Person," I am referring to God as a conscious, rational being. He would be considered a divine Person while we are human persons. Jesus Christ is the one singular Person of God incarnate (manifest in the flesh). Because of the incarnation (when God was manifest in the flesh), Yahweh now exists in two distinct ways at the same time: as God (the Father) and as man (the Son of God). Before the incarnation, Yahweh only existed as the eternal, omnipresent, invisible Spirit. No Son existed before God was manifest in the flesh (except for in the mind/plan of God).

We never existed as spirit before our conception and birth. Our spirit is not eternal since it was created. However, the Spirit of Jesus wasn't created because the Spirit of Jesus is the eternal God (Yahweh). So we can't relate to what God did in Christ when He became flesh and dwelt among us. We can't relate to how God fathered a Son and how that Son was the result of God incarnating in the flesh. Yahweh is able to exist as God and man at the same time because of the incarnation, without compromising the singularity of His very Person and without changing the authenticity of both manners of existence. This is the mystery of the incarnation. We don't understand how God did this, but we can believe that God did this because of what God's Word declares.

This video will help one to see the importance in understanding the dual nature of Jesus Christ (that he is both fully God and fully man). God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, making Jesus God (2 Corinthians 5:19), the way your spirit is in you making you who you are. If we deny Jesus Christ's genuine deity or his genuine humanity it has serious implications. If Jesus was not fully divine then his death would not have infinite value and so it would not be sufficient to atone for the sins of all mankind. At the same time, in order for Jesus to redeem every aspect of humanity, he needed to genuinely possess every aspect of humanity including a human soul (mind, will, consciousness). Jesus was an authentic human being, albeit God incarnate. One needs to acknowledge the dual nature of Jesus Christ in order to understand the biblical distinction between Father and Son. It's not a distinction between two different persons (conscious rational beings), but between God transcendent to His incarnation in the flesh and God incarnate through the human limitation of His incarnation in the flesh.

According to Luke 1:30-35, Jesus was conceived in Mary's womb by the Holy Ghost (Yahweh). This is why he is called the only begotten Son of God. Jesus is the Son of God by conception. He was born as God's Son. There are so many modern misconceptions about the term "Son of God" and the recognition that God fathered a Son. This video will help one to see that God fathering a Son is how God was manifest in the flesh. Jesus' human existence was fathered by God Himself. Our human existence was dependent on the physical union of both of our parents. Jesus' human existence could not have existed apart from what God contributed at conception. God was the Father of the man Christ Jesus. This was when God (the Word) became flesh. The Jews of Jesus' day understood that if God was the Father of Jesus that it was establishing His deity (John 5:18; 10:32-22). The Jews were correct in believing that no other divine person exists besides Yahweh, the singular person of God. They understood that Yahweh was the only divine being and the only Saviour (Deuteronomy 4:35; Isaiah 45:21). The Jews understood that the term "Son of God" was establishing Jesus' divinity. The unbelieving Jews could not accept His divinity (that God was in Christ, that Jesus was the mighty God and the everlasting Father), while Peter accepted His divinity having received a revelation from the Father.

When the power of the Highest (Yahweh) overshadowed Mary, that was when God became a human being in Mary's womb. God was manifest in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16). The Word (Logos) was made flesh (John 1:14). Jesus was made of the seed of David (Son of Man) according to the flesh (Galatians 4:4), establishing His genuine human nature. But Jesus was also the Son of God, establishing His genuine divine nature. In order for a male child to be born and it be considered a genuine conception, God would have needed to supply the Y chromosome in conception since Mary only had X chromosomes. Jesus' deity and humanity are interdependent. So how exactly was God manifest in the flesh? By fathering a son! That child would be fully God and fully man (God with us). This is the only way God could purchase the church with His own blood and not the blood of someone else He created.

Jesus was divine from the moment of His conception and birth (Micah 5:2). There was never a time when the Spirit of God was not in Christ. Be sure to watch to learn more!
