Glögg is Swedish mulled wine and is incredibly popular here during the winter. There are a thousand ways to skin a cat this is just what my Nana and Nonno liked and so this is the version I’m making.
Ingredients:
1 bottle red wine
250g Madeira
250g aquavit
4 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
¼ orange peel
250g sugar
Raisins and blanched almonds
Instructions:
Into a large pot pour all the wine, the sugar, spices and orange peel.
Heat on medium-low until the sugar is dissolved.
Add in the Madeira and aquavit and let come up in temperature again, until its nice and warm. The longer it cooks, or the more it simmers/boils, the less alcohol it will have.
Serve in small cups with the raisins and almonds. Enjoy!
