How do you take effective notes? There are approaches to note-taking that are more effective to others. Just copying everything down isn't one of them.

Steps in Note-taking
1. Get a sense of the big picture and plan ahead.
2. Create large headings for the major points.
3. Fill in under the headings with related details.
4. Leave space under the related details so you can go back later and add more information.
5. Write questions in the margins that the main source does not answer, then look up the answers and write them there.
