France, Germany and Poland: A New Alliance Against Russia
Macron, Scholtz and Tusk have announced a new alliance designed to prevent Russian victory. Behind the facade of unity, there are long historical animocities, past misdeeds, deportations, massacres, and distrust. Here I discuss official policy against the background of popular attitudes, views of Germany in France and in Poland, the ways the Germans perceive their neigbors and the way the Russians see the French, the Germans and the Poles, as well as animocities between the Poles and Ukrainians.
