The longnose armored searobin (Peristedion antillarum) primarily uses its stiffened fin rays to walk as its main method of locomotion, rather than swimming. It has 4 rows of bony plates with spines on its body for protection, barbels to sense food like shrimps, crabs, and worms on the sea floor, and long, narrow snouts that have been recorded being climbed on by a brittle star.
