To propagate ZZ plant, we need leaves that had already stopped growing at the time of pruning. Those leaves that are in a state of vegetative growth are not suitable for propagation.
Please note that the larger the stem, the faster the development of a large tuber.
For planting the cuttings, we use a sterilized soil mixture made according to the recipe for both cacti and succulents.
Here is the list of some basic care conditions for cuttings:
Illumination - 65% diffused sunlight;
Daylight hours - at least 14 hours;
Temperature is from + (20-25) C;
Watering frequency - with a slight drying of the soil mixture between irrigations.
After 30 to 50 days, Zamioculcas cuttings turn into plants, the main percentage of cuttings developed the root system and formed tubers perfectly.
After 7-9 months, young plants begin to develop new leaves.
If the care conditions differ from the recommended ones, the process of development can greatly slow down.
