Hey guys, welcome back to NGB 2.0 and in this video I want to show you how to create a melody in FL Studio. Now it's actually super easy to create a melody in FL Studio. So without further delay let's get started and see how you can do this.

Now to demonstrate this I've already opened up FL Studio and the first thing that I would like to do is I would like to click on this option that is 'View Channel Rack'. Next you need to click on this '+' icon. Next you need to select this option that is 'FL Keys'.

Now FL Keys is a native plugin in FL Studio that emulates piano sounds and it's actually great for beginners who want to experiment with melodies, chords and rhythms. And so that's the reason I chose FL Keys for this tutorial. Next what you need to do is you need to right click on 'FL Keys' and now you need to select this option that is 'Piano roll'.

So piano roll in FL Studio is one of the most essential and powerful tools for creating and editing not only melodies but harmonies, rhythms and patterns. It allows you to visually arrange notes and control their timing, pitch and velocity. So if you look on the left hand side you're going to find denominations from C0 to C10 and these denominations refer to the range of musical octaves with C0 being the lowest and C10 being the highest covering all pitches from deep bass to high treble.

And if you look right above, you're going to find numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on. So these numbers refer to the bars of the timeline. These bars help you see the structure of your melody in terms of timing, making it easier to organize notes rhythmically.

Now to create our melody we are going to make use of the C5 and C6 octave. So let's go right there. And as you can see this is the C5 octave and this is the C6 octave.

So let's start creating our melody. So what I'm going to do is I will go bar by bar creating my melody. So let's first concentrate on the 1st bar and I would like to place the first note in the 1st bar right about here.

And let me increase the size of this note like this. Now let me place the second note in the 1st bar right about here. Now let me place the third note in the 1st bar right about here.

And let me place the fourth note in the 1st bar right about here. And so now if I play this pattern for you. All right.

Now what I would like to do next is I would like to copy this pattern in the 3rd bar. So to do that select the 'Select' tool. Now select like this.

Press control C and now select the 'Paint' tool and now bring your cursor at the beginning of the 3rd bar and now press control V. And as you can see we have successfully copy pasted this pattern in the 3rd bar. And so now if I play this entire pattern for you once again right from the start. All right.

Let's now work on the 2nd bar. So I would like to place the first note in the 2nd bar right about here. And let me decrease the size of this note like this.

Now I would like to place the second note in the 2nd bar right about here. And let me increase the size of this note like this. Now I would like to place the third note in the 2nd bar right about here.

And let me decrease the size of this note like this. And so now if I play this entire pattern for you right from the start. All right.

Let's now start working on the 4th bar. So I would like to place my first note in the 4th bar right about here. And I would like to place my second note in the 4th bar right about here.

Now let me increase the size of the second note like this. Now I would like to place my third note in the 4th bar right about here. And let me decrease the size of this third note like this.

And so now if I play this entire pattern for you right from the start. Perfect. So as you can see we have created this very simple melody in FL Studio.

Now what you can also do is you can play around the tempo. So let's say let me increase the tempo from 130 to let's say 170. And now let me play this pattern for you once again.

So this is how you can create a melody in FL Studio. Do let me know your thoughts in the section below. Like the video and subscribe to my YouTube channel.

I will again see you in the next video. Till then thanks for watching.
