Hey guys, welcome back to NGB 2.0 and in this video, I want to show you how you can blur edges of an image in GIMP. Now it's actually super easy to blur edges of an image in the GIMP editor. So without further delay, let's get started and see how you can do this. Now to demonstrate this, I've already imported a demo image in the GIMP editor. So this is my demo image present right here.

And what you need to do first is you need to right click on your image layer. And now you need to select this option that is 'Add Alpha channel'. Next what you need to do is you need to add a horizontal and vertical guide on top of your image. So to do that, you need to go to the 'Image' menu, go to 'Guides', and then select 'New Guide'. Now inside 'Direction' currently 'Vertical' is selected, so that's fine.

And inside 'Position' currently the value is 50% so that's fine as well. So now simply click on the 'OK' button. Perfect. Now let's add a horizontal guide. So to do that, go to the 'Image' menu once again, go to 'Guides', and then click on 'New Guide'. This time change the direction from 'Vertical' to 'Horizontal'. And now click on the 'OK' button. Perfect. Next,

what you need to do is you need to select the 'Rectangle Select Tool' from the toolbox. And now look inside the 'Rectangle Select' settings, which is present right here. And inside the 'Rectangle Select' settings, you will find this option called 'Expand from center'. So you need to select this option. And now create your rectangle on top of the image like this. And place it right at the center like this.

Perfect. Next, what you need to do is you need to go to the 'Select' menu. And now you need to select this option that is 'Feather'. So you need to feather the selection by 100 pixels. And now click on the 'OK' button. Next, you need to invert the selection. So to do that, go to the 'Select' menu once again, and then select this option that is 'Invert'. Next,

what you need to do is you need to press the 'delete' key on your keyboard. And now go to the 'Select' menu once again, and then select this option that is 'None'. Perfect. Now, let's get rid of all the guides as we don't need them anymore. So let me go to the 'Image' menu, go to 'Guides' and click on this option that is 'Remove all guides'.

And finally, what you need to do is you need to add a new transparent layer. So to do that, click on this option, which says 'Create a new layer and add it to the image'. And as you can see, inside 'Fill with', 'Transparency' is already selected. So simply click on the 'OK' button. Now drag this layer below your main image like this. And now all you need to do is you need to fill this transparent layer with the color white.

So as you can see, white is already selected in my background color, and I've already selected my transparent layer. So let me go to the 'Edit' menu. And now let me select this option that is 'Fill with Background Color'. Perfect. And that's it. This is how you can blur edges of an image in GIMP.
