Several people throughout history have tried to sue God and despite all odds, one of them actually succeeded.
On August 17th, 1960 Betty Penrose’s house was destroyed after it was struck by a bolt of lightning. To anyone else, this would have just been another freak accident of nature.
Her lawyer filed a lawsuit against God. Claiming that the destruction of the house was the result of His negligence. After all, if God is omnipotent and in charge of everything happening in the universe, then it should have been His responsibility to stop the bolt of lightning from destroying Miss Penrose’s house.
There's other criteria that's required for a lawsuit of negligence to go through but I really didn't want to talk about them in length. This is a short video. My channel's videos are supposed to be short.
Anyway
The filed lawsuit sought $75,000 in general damages to the property and $25,000 in punitive damages. So God was sued for $100,000. 25 of which was purely to discourage Him from allowing another such accident from happening again.
Obviously, God was a no-show to the court hearing.
As a result of God’s forfeiture of the case via failure to appear in court, Betty Penrose became the only person in history to successfully sue a deity.
