Gran Turismo 4, as we all know, can be ran in a 1080i mode that renders the game at 576x960. But did you know that starting with the US release of the game, you could also switch the aspect ratio of this mode, too?
The original Japanese version locks the aspect ratio to just 16:9 - which, on a widescreen CRT, would've been perfectly acceptable. But running the 1080i mode in 4:3 gives us a really interesting look at another way to play this game. Truthfully, I think this looks better than the 480p mode does running like this - and squished back to its intended aspect ratio, too.
But I'm not the judge of what you think looks good - that's your job. But if this piques your interest, by all means, give it a go. You might be surprised at how well this works compared to the 1080i mode in 16:9.
Note that this also works in the Japanese Online Test Version and the American Online Public Beta versions, as well as the standard US release. I dunno if it works in the Korean build, but I can confirm that it doesn't in the original Japanese release. Selecting 1080i in that version just locks you into 16:9 for that output mode.
