Restoration Antique Spinning Wheel
Hi! Today, the restoration of the old spinning wheel. I found it by chance at a flea market under a pile of other antiques. Completely. Handmade wood, steel parts are made by hand and forged. Mechanisms are very interesting, and this spinning wheel belongs to the 19th century. This is a wonderful and interesting thing. I'm starting to recover.
First, I took the spinning wheel apart. It was not easy to do. There are a lot of wooden parts.
I put the iron parts in a jar with a rust remover, after cleaning I put them in a jar with soda and water to neutralize the effect of acid.
I didn't sort out some of the details because they would have lost their history. I cleaned it carefully with sand.
I sanded, degreased and began to putty the remaining wooden parts. I initially used thin pieces of wood and glue mixed with sawdust to fill the cracks.
Next, I used three types of putty. After drying and sanding, I applied a protective varnish wax for wood, then using acrylic paint and water-based paint for wood.
Next, I collected all the details, I strengthened the spinning wheel legs with wooden wedges.
For the spinning wheel test, I added a piece of fishing line to the second reel, a piece of rope to the main wheel. I have no experience in this, but the test turned out and this mechanism works.
