How to change color in After Effects (Text, Shape, Solid)

Changing colors on items in Adobe After Effects can look a bit different depending on what it is, so I wanted to show you 3 examples of how you can change the color on 3 different items in your project.

On the text layer, you select the layer and then go to the Character window, and next to where you change the font you can change the fill color and the stroke color.

For the shape layer, you select the layer and go up to the toolbar. If you can’t see this panel you can find it in the menu under Window and Tools.

For the solid, it’s bit different, because you actually can’t see the color anywhere in your workspace except in the layer itself, so you need to go up to the menu again, click “Layer” and then click “Solid settings” and here you can change the color
