A budget friendly way to add more inputs in your studio, is to buy a used firewire audio interface. Although new audio interfaces are USB-C, USB or Thunderbolt, there is a wealth of under-utilized older firewire devices out there. If your audio interface has ADAT, you don’t need a firewire connection or a string of messy adaptors. Why not have 10 or more inputs for both flexibility and convenience? It’a a small investment.
