We just became Permanent Residents of Canada! This is how we got our permanent residency in Canada. To be more specific, this video is about how we went from student visa to PR in Canada in under two years.
If you’re new here, we’re Bea and Daniel. We’re originally from the Philippines and we arrived in Canada last December 2019 as international students.
We graduated from Centennial College (Progress Campus) last June 2021, and we became permanent residents in August 2021.
If you do the math, our PR pathway just took around one year and eight months upon arriving in Canada. This is extremely fast considering that the average time that international students achieve their permanent residency in Canada is 2-3 years.
To be honest, we got extremely lucky that the government of Canada opened a new pathway in May 2021 called the TR to PR pathway (Temporary Resident to Permanent Resident pathway) wherein 40,000 recent international graduates from a Canadian institution were given a chance to apply for permanent residency. Unfortunately, this pathway has already closed.
Applying for the TR to PR pathway was probably one of the most stressful weeks of our lives, but it was all worth it!
If you’ve been following our journey for a while, we’d like to say thank you very much! Expect more videos to come from us soon!
