Cleaning your boiler is an important procedure that helps keep it running efficiently, extends its service life and prevents scale and corrosion. Clean your boiler once a year to maintain its efficiency. In areas with hard water, cleaning may need to be done more frequently due to rapid scale formation. Monitor the operation of the boiler. If you notice decreased performance or strange noises, this may be a sign that cleaning or maintenance is needed.
How to clean the boiler:
Turn off the electrical power:
Shut off the cold water supply valve to the boiler.
Unscrew the hot and cold water connection fittings and drain the water from the boiler through the hose into the sewer.
Remove the boiler cover to gain access to the internal components.
Disconnect the wires from the heating element.
Disconnect the heating element and remove it from the boiler. The heating element is usually secured with bolts or latches.
Scale often forms on the heating element. Clean it with a stiff brush and a solution of citric acid or vinegar. You can leave the heating element in the solution for some time to dissolve the scale.
Rinse the heating element with water and let it dry.
Rinse the inside of the boiler tank with water, removing sediment and dirt.
If there is a lot of scale in the tank, you can use a citric acid solution or a special descaling agent. Fill the tank with the solution, leave it for a while, then rinse thoroughly with water.
Insert the heating element back into the boiler and secure it.
Connect the wires to the heating element in accordance with their markings.
Close the boiler lid.
Open the cold water valve and allow the boiler to fill.
Open the hot water tap to remove any air pockets.
Connect the boiler to the electrical network.
Check the boiler for leaks and proper operation. Make sure it heats the water to the right temperature.
