Questions: Is this shot even possible? Could the shooter even see the target through his scope at over 2 miles away? What sort of math was involved to even get close at this distance? What sort of special techniques or equipment would be needed to compensate for the lack of available indexable and reticle holdover required to make the shot at this distance? What is the probability of a first round hit at this distance?

History: In mid 2017 a pair of sniper spotter teams from Canadian Joint Task Force 2 (JTF2) successfully hit an !$!$ fighter from a record-breaking distance of more than two miles away while assisting Iraqi forces in the push to retake Mosul, according to Canadian Special Operations Command. Due to the distance of the shot, some voices in the long range community expressed skepticism at the Canadian government’s report. If true, the reported shot from 3,450 meters, or about 2.14 miles, smashes the previous sniper world record of 2,474 meters or 1.54 miles set by the United Kingdom’s Craig Harrison fighting !nsurgen+s in Afghanistan in November 2009.

The video footage of this historic event was released by a member of the Team that took the shot, Dallas Alexander. In 2023 Canadian military demanded that the US podcaster Shawn Ryan delete the interview with Mr. Alexander after the ex-commando spoke out against "med!c@l" and "face-c0vering" m@nd@tes. The episode still exists in its full form online. For the DECLASSIFIED interview with Dallas Alexander on the Shawn Ryan Show    • DECLASSIFIED | Dallas Alexander - The Worl...
