This sumifs tutorial shows you how to use sumifs with multiple criteria in different columns and explains the difference between sumif and sumifs.
The Sumif function takes three arguments, the first being the range that contains the criteria, the second argument is the actual criteria and the third argument is the range to be summed.

If you need to do a semi complex query containing more than one criteria, i.e where you are drilling down on the criteria then you need to use the sumifs function.
The sumifs function allows you to sum an Excel data range using several "and" criteria.
Sumifs takes a minimum of three criteria, followed by optional range and criteria pairs.
In this tutorial I also cover the counta function to create a dynamic range by summing non blank cells and the indirect function to create a more easily adjusted sumifs function criteria.
I also cover the subtotal function which is used to adjust the result when a filter is applied on an excel autofilter.
