The swedish capital of Stockholm and the surrounding region are served by many different railway systems.
The metro ("Tunnelbana") is the most commonly used system. Numerous stations were elaborately designed by artists, which is why they are among the city's most famous cultural landmarks.
The "Spårväg City" tram connects the museums on Djurgården island with the city center. On a part of the line, heritage trams are in service.
The "Tvärbanan" is a modern light rail connecting several districts and branches of the Tunnelbana without going through the city center.
For some time, the "Nockebybanan" was the last surviving line of the former Stockholm tram network. It connects the Nockeby district to the Tunnelbana and Tvärbana at Alvik station.
Using former Tunnelbana trains, the "Saltsjöbanan" serves the south-eastern region. The line splits at Igelboda station, where the three trains always meet to easily let passengers change between trains.
The "Lidingäbanan" is a low-floor local railway, connecting Lidingö island to the Tunnelbana at Ropsten station. At the time of the recording, the steel bascule bridge was still being used, and work on a new bridge was already in full swing.
The three lines of the "Roslagsbanan" start at Stockholms Östra station, before branching out into the northern surburbs.
Lastly, we pay a short visit to the city's tram museum, which is located near Ropsten Tunnelbana station.
