The objective of this lecture is to challenge cisgenderism within Michigan's campus community, while fostering a culture of allyship towards trans and nonbinary faculty, staff, and students. To achieve this goal, we begin by presenting national and institutional data, which serve as a call to action for advocating for a more gender-inclusive campus. We will then explore English terms and concepts that promote a shared understanding of sex and gender vocabulary. Finally, we examine real-life case studies, allowing participants to develop practical strategies for promoting a trans- and nonbinary-inclusive campus culture.
