Lewis Hamilton’s United States Grand Prix was a disaster. After showing some pace during the sprint race, Hamilton fans had high hopes for Sunday’s main event but a terrible qualifying session saw him out in Q1 and his race was even shorter. On the other side of the garage, George Russell managed to go from the pitlane to finish in 6th position. It was an astounding result which showed what could have been possible for Hamilton if it weren’t for his third lap trip to the gravel at turn 19. With the incident being identical to the one that caused George Russell to wreck during Q3, Mercedes decision making on the Saturday evening has come into question.
