A team of biologists and engineers used tiny sensors to confirm that an endangered land snail on the island of Tahiti avoided the invasive and predacious rosy wolfsnail by spending more time in the sun.

The project, conducted at the University of Michigan, is the first of its kind – and was made possible by extremely small, lightweight sensing computers developed by David Blaauw, the. Kensall D. Wise Collegiate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan.
