Creating natural, realistic-looking shadows in After Effects is complicated, slow to render, and hard to manipulate -- until now! I've created a set of presets for After Effects that allow you to instantly add realistic shadows to any layer with controls that make it extremely easy to manipulate their appearance. You can even use a single layer as a controller for all the layers that use the presets in a comp at once AND use the position of the controller to control which direction the shadows are being cast! Plus I added a preset for adding a customizable light source that adapts to the layer it's parented to and creates a great-looking light to compliment the shadows.
