Eli Tamar composed "Requiem" in 2021 in memory of the victims of the coronavirus pandemic. The mass was first presented to the public in December of the same year at Sobornaya Palata in Moscow, performed by the Moscow Synodal Choir and the famous opera diva, mezzo-soprano Polina Shamaeva. The composer used texts from the Catholic funeral mass and the Jewish prayer for the dead, "El Male Rahamim" ("God full of mercy"). On a symbolic level, the soloist personifies both the grieving individual and the community leader represented in the music by the choir.
