Esperance Readers and Writers Festival - artists from across the south west meet and tell stories
This amazing festival was held in Esperance, with a series of workshops held over a five month period in 2021, concluding in a weekend event which saw multiple accomplished authors and writers take the stage of the historic Bijou Theatre to talk about their careers and experiences in storytelling across the genres.
With a focus on creating opportunities for local writers to develop skills and networks, the festival brought together visual artists, writers and musicians from across the south west of Western Australia.
On stage, authors and writers including Kim Scott, Sarah Drummond, Jon Doust, Will Yeoman, Yann Toussant, Sam Carmody, Frane Lessac, Briony Stewart, Perdita Phillips, Lois Saunders, James England, Nicole Chalmer, Wanika Fazekas, Mark Greenwood, Fleur McDonald, Dorothy Henderson, Kim Maslin, Karli Florisson and Andrea Gaynor were part of panels and presentations discussing their work and providing wonderful insight into what it takes to be a writer.
To have all these passionate and accomplished artists in the one venue, networking and discussing their craft, was truly amazing!
