The south coast of Western Australia is a geologically ancient expanse, rich in biodiversity, rugged coastal scenery, unexplored oceanic realms, and diverse economic and social interests.

Majestic marine life such as the humpback and southern right whale, leafy sea-dragon, and the fearsome great white shark dwell in the crystal clear waters of the Southern Ocean.

On land the broad coastal plain supports one of the world's 34 recognised 'biodiversity hotspots' where the rarest marsupial on earth - Gilbert's potoroo - and the critically endangered western ground parrot survive in the last remaining habitat.

In this documentary we explore the fascinating natural history of the region, including the vibrant interaction between Indigenous people and the early European explorers; the footprint modern man is leaving on the landscape; and the incredibly important work being done to preserve the area for the future.

We produced this documentary in 2013 while with our previous film business Blue Office Productions, in collaboration with South Coast Natural Resource Management.
