This one irks me! Their doctor is putting their patient in harms way with terrible advice that is unsupported by evidence, heck it’s directly contradicted by evidence!
We pledge as medical students, First Do No Harm.
If you don’t know about nutrition, it’s ok, it isn’t taught in medical school and you do not harm people by saying, “I don’t know”. But giving wrong advice could literally kill them.
Animal products put stress on the kidneys. For healthy folks, the stress shows up as kidney function that slowly decreases over time. (look at your GFR). I was told in medical training that this was caused by aging, but since my patients and wellness clients in their 80s regain normal kidney function on my hyper-nourishing plant-based nutrition plan (even when they came to me for blood pressure or constipation issues), I have recognized that the cause is DIET not aging. And these changes are reversible if you catch them in time.
I have published reversed end stage kidney failure and have gotten people off dialysis and even the kidney transplant list on my protocol.
For people with kidney disease, animal products quickly worsen kidney function – which has been known to the medical community for decades and is the reason for the “low protein” recommendations for kidney disease. These recommendations don’t go far enough, but many doctors are not even aware of this even though it is from mainstream medical research and recommendations.
