"The Arrival of the Red Army" is a Czechoslovak popular and military song written by Pavel Vondruška and composed by Vaclav Dobiash in 1952 to commemorate the liberation of Czechoslovakia from Nazi Germany by the heroic forces of the Soviet Red Army during the Prague Offensive of 1945 which saw the liberation of nearly all of Czechoslovakia by May. Following liberation, many Czechoslovaks felt a great sense of gratitude toward the Soviet Union for freeing their country where the other major powers had previously turned their backs on Czechoslovakia, it was in the spirit of this gratitude that this song, along with many other songs and films, was written and the Communist Party won victory.
