Finally (Fantasy), XVI isn't a PS5 exclusive anymore as Square officially dropped a demo on Steam recently. I was skeptical at first if my old midrange rig can run this, since the GPU has only 4GB of VRAM, recommended would be 8GB of VRAM. Everything else passed the minimum requirements. But to my surprise I was able to run it fairly well, I guess. Although you'll definitely need Super Resolution to make it work. If you have the same specs as mine or have a similar laptop, use this gameplay video as a reference. This benchmark video is the entirety of Eikonic Challenge mode. Some important notes below 👇👇

NOTES:

🔹 This video might appear to stutter a bit throughout, DON'T WORRY. Nitro 5 AN515-57 RTX 3050ti isn't just very good on capturing videos or streaming, but trust me -- the game runs smooth, if you follow my settings at the start of the video.

🔹Keep in mind that Square & CS3 is still optimizing the Steam release, and there might be more performance enhancing patches before the official release in three weeks. I'm playing the ver 1.01 patch, which fixed a few things.

🔹There seems to be memory leaks, and horrible fps drops on cutscenes. There's a mod to temporary unlock the framerate for the cutscenes, which I used in this video. Thanks to Lyall for the FFXVIfix on Github.

🔹 Important: everytime you change graphics settings, I suggest restarting the game. There's a weird bug that makes the game lag the more you mess with the settings while in-game.

🔹DLSS 3 works well with this game as well if you have the same specs like mine. Only reason I used Legacy is because it gives me a smoother gameplay without losing much quality. If you care more about visuals, definitely use DLSS, the AMD FSR 3 doesn't work for me and makes the graphics look extremely blocky and blurry.

🔹 This gameplay benchmark only focuses on the Eikonic Challenge mode, as I think it's more important to showcase the fast combat and if it works well with this laptop. The first 30 minutes of the game is mostly cutscenes anyway.
