Porteus Linux is a portable linux os and can be installed to usb flash drive. It is based on modules and boots very fast.
Porteus is another great gnu/linux os with 300MB of size and easy to install in flashdive. It does have some great features like modules, copy to ram, creating custom modules and persistent file manager. It is very easy to use and based slackware.
It does have some issues like installing new packages via USM is very tricky. But once you know how to use it, you can create your own modules and use it
