Do you have IBS Diarrhea (IBS-D) and are looking to stop or at least relieve some of your symptoms?

In this video, I discuss 6 things to avoid in order to improve your IBS diarrhea. First, I talk about not having an overly restrictive diet. If you are doing the FODMAP diet, I discuss how to properly eliminate and reintroduce foods. Remember, there are some bacteria that are good bacteria and you want them to aid in digestion. An overly restrictive diet doesn't allow those bacteria to work properly. Secondly, don't drink a lot of alcohol. Drinking too much alcohol can cause overgrowth of bad bacteria and damage the intestinal lining which leads to leaky gut. Next, don't have too many carbonated beverages. They will cause bloating and diarrhea because of the carbonation and fructose they contain. Fourth, don't drink too many animal based dairy products. This is because lactose can be difficult to digest when you have IBS. Fifth, don't drink too much coffee. Coffee helps people when they are constipated. So if you're not constipated, it watch out because you may be going even more! Finally, I wouldn't obsess about probiotics. Prehaps use them during the elimination phase of your FODMAP diet. But, they do not provide long term health benefits.
