ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Dr Theodoros Potamitis is the Director of Pantheo Eye Centre and an Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at the University of Nicosia Medical School. He obtained his medical degree (MB ChB) from the University of Leicester in 1987 where he continued to work in the fields of trauma and neurosurgery until 1989. He moved to the University of Birmingham and worked at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Hospital in 1990 were he become Lecturer in Ophthalmology in 1995.
In 1998 he moved to Cyprus and founded Pantheo Eye Centre in Limassol, a group practice consisting of twelve ophthalmic specialists providing care both in the private sector and to the Cyprus Government on a contractual basis. Dr Potamitis is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth). He served on the board of the European Vitreoretinal Society (EVRS) as research coordinator and is a Board Member of the Eastern European Vitreoretinal Society. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmology in the UK. He has published numerous original articles and written chapters in ophthalmic textbooks.
