I need advice on the best way to learn Photoshop for beginners.

You can view a lot of Adobe Photoshop tutorials for free on HelpX dot Adobe dot com slash photoshop. It has everything from touching up photos to manipulating images.

A lot of those tutorials are very limited, like how to lighten an image. I need to learn all the ins and outs of the graphics.

So go to Photoshop dot com slash learn to learn how to use Photoshop. They have lessons on how to do specific actions, as well as how some people create blended reality and fantasy images.

Assuming I can afford it.

A lot if not all of the tutorials there are free. And they have content from beginner to advanced lessons.

I can hardly afford the Adobe Creative licenses, must less lessons on how to use it.

PHLearn dot com has free Photoshop tutorials, though more advanced lessons cost something.

It is standard to make you pay to level up, so that does not surprise me. I just hate the sites that get half way through the lesson before saying to learn more, pay here!

TutsPlus, the tutorial website, has Adobe Photoshop tutorials at Design dot TutsPlus dot com slash categories slash adobe-photoshop. I cannot attest to the quality, but the ads look cool.

I do not know if that’s an endorsement or not.

The site has lessons on things like raised 3D text, glowing metal and the ten most common mistakes newbies make with photo editing.

That latter one sounds about right for me.

Digital Tutors has high quality Photoshop lessons, but not all of their content is free.

Then you’re free to recommend something else, other than the Adobe Photoshop for stupid people books at the library.

So watch Adobe TV, the TV dot Adobe dot com slash product slash photoshop site with video lessons on how to use Adobe Photoshop. They have everything from what is Photoshop to how to use specific functions.

That’s about the level I’m at.

Once you’ve figured out what all the menu choices do and the basics of how to use them, I’d recommend using PhotoshopCafe dot com. They have tutorials on how to do certain types of enhancements and quick tips to make life simpler.

What else do you recommend?

DesignShack dot net has some decent beginner’s guides to making in Photoshop, though it lacks the breadth of Photoshop cafe and adobe TV.

I’m happy just having options other than Adobe TV, where every lesson includes a couple ads for an expensive upgrade.
