Today we're making Shepherds Pie. Not to be confused with a Cottage Pie. Well actually there pretty much the same, very similar. The only real difference is that a shepherds pie uses minced lamb and a cottage pie uses minced beef, or a beef and pork mixture. In my cottage pie video, link below, I used a Beef, Pork, and Veal mixture.
Cottage Pie: • A Cottage Pie Above The Rest
Below is the ingredients for the shepherds pie filling:
1 Pound Minced (Ground) Lamb.
1 Tsp Salt and Black Pepper (more or less to your taste)
1 Tsp Paprika.
1 Small Onion, Chopped.
2 Ribs of Celery, Chopped.
1-2 Carrots, Chopped.
3 Cloves or Garlic, Minced.
1/4 Cup All Purpose Flour.
2 1/2 Cups Beef Broth.
2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce.
2 Tbsp Tomato Sauce.
1 Tsp Rosemary and Thyme, Each.
2 Bay Leaves.
1/2 Cup Frozen Corn.
1/2 Cup Frozen Peas.
Mashed Potatoes:
2 1/2 Pounds Russet Potatoes or Yukon Gold.
1 Cup Warm Milk.
4-8 Tbsp Butter.
Salt and Pepper to Taste.
Garlic and Bay Leaves (to boil with potatoes).
