Welcome to the Junos OS Fundamental Module which introduces Junos OS and describes the basic design and architecture the module also explains the traffic process finally this module provides a brief overview of the Junos device.

what is Junos?
The Junos operating system used in Juniper Networks high-performance network devices creates a responsive and trusted environment for accelerating the deployment of services and applications over a single network.

Junos operating system that is highly scalable and stable Junos software is built on the FreeBSD kernel.

Juniper also describes Juno's as a modular system one of the reasons because Junos services ride on top of the FreeBSD kernel and this is completely independent of each other services can be added or removed based on the hardware or appliance specifications.

Each process runs in its own protected memories spaces this ensure that one process cannot directly interfere with another process having the services is completely independent of each other
Junos runs devices-
-From Branch to Core of the Network
-From Router to Switch’s
-From Firewall to Chassis
-Same Source Code Based

All Juno's OS device devices share the same source code

The Junos OS provides a common language across juniper routing switching and security devices.

The power of one Junos OS reduces complexity and high-performance network to increase the availability and deploy services faster with lower Total Cost Of Ownership TCO.
