Sanctuary Mall is a community mall located at Telok Panglima Garang or in the vicinity of Kota Kemuning. This suburban mall opened in 2019. I wanted to see how this mall fares in 2024 when it is truly a community mall since it is located away from other malls.
A community mall is meant to cater the surrounding residents. Located at Eco Sanctuary which has around 3,000 residential houses. The surrounding Tropicana Aman neighborhood is a walking and biking community which houses close to 2,500 residential units. Sanctuary Mall provides bicycle parking facilities.
Sanctuary Mall is a 3-storey strip mall concept. The mall is built with shops laid out in a row with a sidewalk. It has ground floor parking facing the main entrances which means you can walk in and out without finding a parking at the basement or multilevel parking. Parking is a breeze here and offers easy access.
Parking is free at the moment. The closest malls are Gamuda Walk Mall which is 9 kilometres away while Quayside Mall is 3 kilometres away.
There is close to 100,000 sq ft net lettable area to house 50 retail outlets. The nearby high rise service apartment, Duduk Seruang has over 600 units within 300 meters.
It has Jaya Grocer as the anchor tenant.
To name a few of the retail outlets that are open here in November 2024 are Chatto, Boost Juice, Mr Dakgalbi, San Francisco Coffee and Beacon Mart. They also have a Yakiniku Bar and an Atas Restaurant.
Although the R pharmacy was closed during my visit. A few of the kiosks were also not operating.
What I like about Sanctuary Mall during my visit are:
1. A 3-storey tree house which I have not seen elsewhere. It is a massive structure which provides a shaded seating area on the ground floor. So probably this could be a reason for folks with kids who are from Petaling Jaya or Kuala Lumpur city come visit. There is also an upcoming jungle gym for kids.
2. The second floor has a glass roof in the middle of the mall allowing natural light which I favour this design.
3. On the second floor, there is Maju Home furniture retailer and a wedding ballroom. It looks like it can host at least 300 guests.
4. Hock Kee kopitiam which is a typical kopitiam that is positioned as a Muhibbah kopitiam. I had cendol here. There is a constant stream of locals supporting this outlet.
5. I have to add that the mall management made this place look bright even for spaces that are vacant. They used colourful panels to seal up unused spaces. To contrast this, you can see in my video of Pinnacles, Sri Petaling. Plain white panels used here makes the place visibly vacant.
6. Kee Nyugen which offers RM4 of iced americano which I think is a good deal.
