"Sailors of Kronstadt" is a East German (German Democratic Republic) military song based off the Soviet song "Forward, Red Marines". The tune was taken from the old Polish revolutionary song "When the Nation Goes to Battle" (Gdy Naród Do Boju) with German lyrics written by Helmut Schinkel in the late 1920s recounting the Soviet sailors who retook Kronstadt from the counter-revolutionary mutineers.
