Today, Mads and I visited the Cebu Taoist Temple, a famous religious site perched on a hill in Cebu City. This temple is a center of Taoism, a philosophy and religion founded by the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu.
The Cebu Taoist Temple was built in 1972 by the Chinese Taoism community. It is a beautiful example of Chinese-style architecture, with its intricate carvings, colorful dragons, and traditional roof designs.
The temple is located 980 feet above sea level, and visitors must climb 81 steps to reach the top from the entrance.
As we climbed the 81 steps to the temple, we were greeted by breathtaking views of the city skyline and the blue waters of Mactan Island. The temple is an excellent place to relax and enjoy the fresh air.
You can also forget your stress and worries as you admire the temples, religious figures, designs, dragons, and paintings. The temple grounds are a tranquil oasis, with lush gardens, ornate sculptures, and serene ponds.
Inside the main prayer hall, we found ourselves surrounded by colorful murals, incense burners, and statues of Taoist deities. For those who believe in Taoism, the Cebu Taoist Temple is a perfect place to pray or meditate.
The temple has a serene atmosphere and is a great place to connect with your spirituality. Even if you are not a Taoist, you should show respect and behave appropriately within the temple grounds.
Mads and I spent a good amount of time exploring the temple and its grounds. We admired the big dragon sculptures on top of the roofs and on the grounds, the Buddhas inside the prayer room, and the white stone lion statues guarding the temple. We also threw coins into the wishing well and enjoyed watching the fish pond with colorful Koi fishes.
The Cebu Taoist Temple is a wonderful place to visit for anyone seeking spiritual solace or a simply a peaceful break from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is a reminder that even in the heart of a bustling metropolis, there are still places where we can find inner peace and tranquility.
