The new BMW M5 will be released domestically at the end of this year.
At the 2024 Auto Show, the BMW booth introduced the new BMW M5. The biggest feature of the new car is that it is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of 4.4T. The V8 engine and an electric motor have a comprehensive output of 535 kW, and the comprehensive torque is 1000 N m. The new car will be launched at the end of this year.
In terms of design, the new BMW M5 adopts the latest design style of the current family. The outer edge of the kidney grille is equipped with a light strip, and the eye-catching M logo is placed on the right side of the grille. The LED headlights on both sides are the latest style of the BMW family, and the lower grille is an aggressive air kit. It is worth mentioning that the new BMW M5 will be available in five colors.
The new car is equipped with classic elements of BMW M models, such as carbon fiber horn-shaped rearview mirrors, high-gloss black exterior components, and a carbon fiber roof. The tire specifications are 285/40 R20 at the front and 295/35 R21 at the rear. Compared with the previous generation M5, the body width has been increased by 67mm and the ground clearance has been reduced by 18mm. The long and narrow light group shape at the rear of the car also continues the design of the current 5 Series. The quad-tailpipe exhaust on both sides is matched with a large-size diffuser shape to make it stand out even more.
The new BMW M5 is equipped with a dual-screen design (12.3 inches + 14.9 inches), integrated motion curved display, wrap-around special ambient light strip, newly designed M series sports multifunction steering wheel, and crystal. Luxury configurations include front M multifunction seats, seat heating, Bowers & Wilkinson sound system, full-color head-up display, etc. Alcantara roof lining, M carbon fiber exterior kit, seat ventilation and other functions are optional.
In terms of power, it is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 4.4T V8 engine and an electric motor, with a total output of 535 kW and a combined torque of 1000 N·m. The official acceleration time to 100 kilometers is 3.5 seconds. If the M Driver package is optional, the top speed can reach 306 km/h. The vehicle is equipped with a 14.8 kWh battery pack, which can reach a pure electric cruising range of 40 km.
In terms of chassis, the new M5 adopts a front double wishbone and rear five-link suspension structure specially tuned by the M R&D department. In terms of driving modes, the new car will have the choice of ELECTRIC, ecoNTROL, HYBRID, Dynamic and Dynamic PLUS modes. In addition, the new BMW M5 offers the M elite driving mode, which is exclusive to M models. The driver can not only activate the "Dynamic" and "Dynamic PLUS" modes, but also apply the Boost Control function to maximize the vehicle's acceleration performance.
