Overview and first run under manual control of a developmental 13kw turbo electric aircraft propulsion system on a test bench.



This Turbo-Electric system consists of a KingTech K100-TP Turbine engine mated to a 15kw brushless DC electric motor as a generator. The purpose of this developmental gas turbine hybrid electric system is to provide an alternative to powering electric unmanned aircraft and drones on a wide range of fuels and at high altitudes without the high vibration and heavy cooling systems associated with piston engine hybrid systems.
