What is Intrauterine Insemination IUI?-Dr. Nirmala Mohan
IUI is epic journey of sperms towards eggs amongst all odds to create a human life. In this technique of IUI, sperms are provided by either male partner or donor, whose sperms are stored in deep freeze sperm bags. Before insemination, IUI is prepared in lab, assessed for quality, quantity, safety and passed through filtering system for grading and washing. Using a fine tube and syringe, the prepared sperms are introduced directly into the uterine cavity so as to be close to the ovulated egg. Nevertheless only one sperm succeeds in reaching and penetrating the outer layer of oocyte to achieve fertilisation. All these offer good chances of conception.
