What is Pediatric Cardiac Genetic Testing?
Knowledge is power — in life and in medicine. Cardiac genetic testing helps us understand the building blocks that form our body. Genetic testing not only tells us why the heart and body formed a certain way, but also gives us clues as to how they will grow and develop over time.
Once we have a genetic diagnosis, we don’t need to wait until something happens to a child before treating them. We can start caring for them based on what we know about the condition and what parts of the body it affects. Through pediatric cardiac genetics, we can better tailor our care to a child’s individual needs. We can do things like try to strengthen a part of the body we know will get weaker as times goes on or introduce a special diet to combat deficiencies a condition creates.
