What is the BJC Accountable Care Organization?
In 2012, BJC contracted with Medicare to become the first accountable care organization (ACO) in the St. Louis area. ACOs use teams of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, care coaches, social workers and a diabetes educator to collaborate and work to improve communication, coordination and outcomes of patient care.
