Bangladesh's war crimes tribunal plans to seek the extradition of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, after she escaped to neighbouring India last month following weeks of student-led demonstrations. Hasina's government has been accused of human rights abuses, including mass detention and extrajudicial killing of her political opponents. India and Bangladesh have a bilateral extradition treaty. However, a clause in the treaty says extradition might be refused if the offence is of a "political character". Zahirul Alam and Neha Poonia report from Dhaka and New Delhi respectively.
