Skycraft Scout ZK-RWW first engine runs and taxi in 20+ years
Scout Mk.III ZK-RWW has been under restoration by Jonny Mauchline and a small army of helpers at Wanganui Aero Club in New Zealand and, on 17 May 2022, moved under its own power for the first time since an accident around 2000/01.
This Scout was stored in an airport shed after the accident and acquired by Jonny in late 2021. Since then he has been repairing and replacing parts to the point that this first generation microlight/ultralight, powered by a Fuji Robin 18hp engine, is expected to fly again in a matter of weeks. For those wondering: the most throttle given during these taxis was only half!
