This TV3 Inside New Zealand documentary covers the life, business and warbird activities of Sir Tim Wallis, an entrepreneur who used his pioneering live deer capture and farming business to finance a world-renowned collection of World War Two aircraft. The documentary extensively covers Sir Tim from 1992 to 1997, with emphasis on the Warbirds Over Wanaka airshow, the programme to restore the rare Russian Polikarpov I-16 fighter, and the January 1996 Spitfire crash that almost killed him.
Please note that from 15:23 to 15:48 there is footage of a fatal aircraft accident and some may wish to skip ahead.
This is the complete programme as broadcast on New Zealand television, including commercials. It has been transferred from a VHS tape recorded in 1997 so please excuse any audio or video quality issues.
