In this tutorial, I want to share the steps you need to take to prepare your new hard drive for storing data.

Table of Contents

Confirm that the new hard drive is attached to the VM
Create a new partition table on your hard drive
Confirm that the partition table was created
Create a filesystem on the new partition
Mount the new filesystem
Use the new hard drive for storing new data
Unmount the new filesystem
Mount the filesystem permanently to the root tree
