How to make a backup to your Cisco device

In this post, I would like to show you the steps you need to take in order to back up your Cisco device. In case your Cisco IOS software is corrupted or you lose your Cisco configuration file, you will have a backup and you will be able to restore it.

Requirements
Confirm that the TFTP or FTP server is running
Save the running-config on the Cisco device
Check the connectivity to TFTP or FTP server
Check the device file systems
Check the files to be saved
Back up the Cisco IOS and the startup-config file
Confirm that both files are present on the TFTP server
Confirm the integrity of the backed up files
